"Orphanage outreach is one of the best programs that serve children that i have ever been a part of. I went with the mindset that i was there to serve the children and in return they served me with something that no words can explain. I left there with such fulfillment and a piece of me will always be there and with each of those children; they truly touched my heart. "

Alternative Winter Break

December and January is a great time to volunteer with Orphanage Outreach. It's always an excellent time for groups, and the holidays make it a special time for individuals and families to volunteer.

Because of the holiday and school schedules, every week is different. In early December and late January, you might be teaching in the local schools or the Orphanage Outreach English Institute. In late December and early January, you'll be celebrating holidays with the orphanage kids and doing special activities with them because they are out of school. If we have a large volunteer team, we would be able to do a holiday camp with orphanage children and children in the community.

During our winter program, we often have some type of minor construction happening, or some painting and maintenance projects.

The weather during the day is nice and warm, and the nights will probably be cool enough to require a blanket.

Please join us this winter; it'll be a special experience you'll never forget!

Our Mission

The mission of Orphanage Outreach is to provide opportunities to orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. Certainly the children who live at the orphanage are a focus of ours, but all the children of Monte Cristi are disadvantaged in some way. The economics of the town are very poor, the children only go to school for half a day, and there are minimal extracurricular activities for the children to participate in.
