Whitehorse, Yukon,

"Be a volunteer with Orphanage Outreach because it is a very legitimate and well structured organization and you have freedom to make it your own experience."

Meet Kristie Hall!

Individual Volunteers

Although you may see many high school and college teams mentioned on our web site, we have many opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to join us.

Don't worry. We'll meet you at the airport in Santiago, and take you directly to the orphanage. Once there, you'll meet the other volunteers, be they other individuals or a team. It won't take long to get to know your "new team".

Reference Quotes

"At first I was very nervous about going on the trip and almost didn't even come. Now looking back I can't imagine not going. The people that you will meet will forever change your life. The children are amazing and are like sponges waiting to soak up any knowledge and love that you are willing to share. I hope that I get a chance to go back or at least be a part of something this wonderful again!"
Joannah Davis, North Carolina State University

"I had the most amazing four weeks in the Dominican Republic with Orphanage Outreach. I left the states hoping to have fun and make a difference. I returned having done both, but more importantly I flew home having made great friends in the other volunteers, humbled and inspired by the children, and in love with the culture and language of the DR. I would go back in a heart beat and recommend this program to anyone!"
Natalie Taylor, Rollins College

It was an amazing experience that I wouldn't trade for any other spring break trip. Not only do you touch the lives of the children, but also get a chance to meet other students from different parts of the country that are do-ers like you! By that I mean, they not only thought it was a good idea, but acted on it and made it happen by being a part of it!"
Brooke Aretz, University of Minnesota

"Participating in Orphanage Outreach was the best decision I have ever made. It changed my whole way of thinking all at once. In this case the change wasn't incremental or linear, it happened in one week without my knowing it. Don't let any small doubts or anxieties keep you from participating in the program, don't let your fears cause you to miss out."
Brendan Asquith, University of Massachesetts-Amherst

"It's impossible to describe the many details that made this trip so unique and fulfilling. The kids and volunteers were incredible, warm, welcoming individuals- I made many lasting friendships this past summer. If what you've heard about Orphanage Outreach at all grabs your interest, I guarantee that your trip to the DR will be surprising, gratifying, and completely fulfilling."
Tom Beale, Dartmouth College

"I loved the experience and would recommend it to anyone who is considering it. The entire experience opened my eyes to a lot of things. One in particular is that you can be so happy (like the kids) with very little. I would consider myself a "high maintenance" type of girl and I was able to get by and enjoy myself in the not so luxurious facilities! Don't let that, or anything else like it, stand in your way of making such a difference! You won't regret it!"
Jessica Buell, University of Minnesota

Our Mission

The mission of Orphanage Outreach is to provide opportunities to orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. Certainly the children who live at the orphanage are a focus of ours, but all the children of Monte Cristi are disadvantaged in some way. The economics of the town are very poor, the children only go to school for half a day, and there are minimal extracurricular activities for the children to participate in.
