"When I graduate college, I want to do some type of long-term work in a Spanish-speaking country. After only three days of working with Orphanage Outreach, I knew I had found where I wanted to be for two years after school."

May Program

May is a popular and special time for volunteers to join Orphanage Outreach. It's a great opportunity for college students just completing their semester, or for high school and college teams to participate in a May service trip.

Because Dominican school children are completing their school year and taking exams, each week can be different. Volunteers might be teaching in the schools, teaching at the Orphanage Outreach English Institute, tutoring the orphanage children, running learning camps for the orphanage and neighborhood children, or doing working projects. There's lots of variety.

Please consider joining us this May!

Our Mission

The mission of Orphanage Outreach is to provide opportunities to orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. Certainly the children who live at the orphanage are a focus of ours, but all the children of Monte Cristi are disadvantaged in some way. The economics of the town are very poor, the children only go to school for half a day, and there are minimal extracurricular activities for the children to participate in.
