Familly Volunteer Opportunities

An Orphanage Outreach trip is an excellent trip for a parent/child pair, or for the whole family.  Sharing the experience of serving at an orphanage creates memories that will last forever.  Having a week without TV, cell phones, and the daily rush of home can create some special moments.

Volunteers age 12 and older are welcomed at any time if accompanied by an adult guardian. Volunteers under age 12 are welcomed during the winter and summer volunteer programs.

During the winter and summer programs, volunteers under age 18 are credited with a special scholarship when traveling with at least one parent.

Our week at the Esperanza orphanage was, by far, the best family vacation we have had.  I learned so much about both of our daughters seeing them interact with the children...and it was all positive and amazing.  Their abilities to connect transcended language barriers, and all of the externals.  I saw that there is a natural bond among children which is beautiful to behold.  The truth is that  I cannot imagine a better way for a family to spend its vacation time together.  I plan to encourage all of our extended family and friends to consider participating in this voyage of discovery.  I can promise them that it will be unlike any vacation they have ever taken."

It was the best vacation we've ever had.

This was the most meaningful and fulfilling trip my family has ever made together. My son told me that it was the best Spring Break he has ever had, and that the only time he was sad was when we had to leave. I watched my kids blossom throughout this experience. They connected with the kids at the orphanage in a way that only kids can do. I saw the way they understood each other - learned from each other, laughed together and grew from their interactions with each other. I think both of my kids gained more confidence in their ability to make a positive difference in other people's lives. They also experienced the diversity and richness of a different culture. They were touched by the kids at Esperanza, and by the orphanage outreach volunteer coordinators. I think we were all inspired by the love and service that is being given to these kids, but most of all we were touched and inspired by the kids themselves. They are courageous, bright, fun and funny little spirits, and we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend some time with them, to learn from them, to have fun with them, to be their friends, to receive their love and to share our love with them.

This trip was better for my six year old son than 10 trips to Disneyland.
